Fashion & Textiles.. Final Piece

With all project weeks finished it was time to put all that I've learnt into my final piece.
I either had the option to design a garment/accessories or style a photo-shoot + film.

I went for the photoshoot + film option as i'm more of a promotion student than design so i'll have a better chance of showing off my skills and creativity.

I wanted to relate my shoot back to the theme of identity and background. The photos tone and mood showcase my thoughts around death and life as a child which I still use as inspiration for most of my work today.

Fashion & Textiles.. Knitting

Final Piece

Knitting was the last workshop week in our fashion and textiles identity project an area of fashion I had no basic knowledge about so I was excited to see what was in store.

I found knitwear to be really therapeutic and I got the hang of it quite quickly at the first few steps but once the techniques got more and more complicated I found it a lot more difficult. Some of the techniques I learnt were Drop stitch, Rolled edge cast on, Short row wrap and cable rows.

The week really taught me how much craft and hard work goes into something like knitwear.
For my final piece I produced a cable whole scarf as seen above.

Fashion & Textiles.. Digital Print

Digital Print! Digital Print! oh the joy digital print week had landed and I was not looking forward to it.

Working with our new tutor Dan who is a Photoshop genius working for the likes of Vivienne Westwood and Burberry was here to teach me and my group some new skills and tricks on making digital prints on Photoshop.

Now being into the promotion side of fashion I know how important it is to have skills in Photoshop and other digital editing software but I simply was clueless to all of it so I hoped I could gain some useful tips from this week as they're important for me to know.

Throughout the week I took a lot of notes and learned some basic photoshop exercises through manipulating, cloning, colour change and filtering images to make

When it came to Producing my final outcome which had to consist of 3 prints I presented them in the silhouette of a dress rather than just plain squares. The prints were originally from a sea themed test shoot I did earlier in the year and as they're quite colourful I thought they would make amazing prints so I manipulated and filtered the images to make them look more like prints rather than images.
